Phosphatidylcholine is the most important phospholipid contained in sunflower lecithin. Phospholipids play a very important role in metabolic processes. They are part of all biological membranes of our body, regulate the activity of enzymes, as well as permeability, transport and membrane potential. They are an integral component of plasma lipoproteins. It has been found in scientific studies that phosphatidylcholine has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, lowers cholesterol, reduces the synthesis of triacylglycerols, inhibits platelet aggregation and lowers blood pressure. Phosphatidylcholine increases the level of choline in the plasma and in the brain, and accelerates the neuronal synthesis of acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter.
